While this is really funny, isn't there also something to understanding why it is that every new idea that is developed is treated as evil by these people? What an outmoded thinking these people represent.

What's often referenced within the tech world as FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) is at play here, I think. These types are so insecure and afraid that their beliefs might be discarded for other fantasy (such as D&D, Pokemon, etc.) that they have to sermonize the hell out of it at the pulpits.

It's important to realize they are in a heighten state of fear of being discovered as just another fantasy (and a rather boring one at that).

The very definition of reactionary, right?

And actually, I would point out that this same kind of "FUD" tendency you have pointed to Zack has manifested itself all to well among many leftists. So many leftists view new technology, new ideas, new art forms, new tactics, etc. with immediate suspicion, followed by often open hostility.
